Seltjarnarneskirkja

Seltjarnarneskirkja stands on Valhúsahæð, the hill above the town. A father and son, Hörður Björnsson, a building engineer, and Hörður Harðarson, an architect, won the competition for it; Sigurður Kr. Árnason built it, and it was consecrated on 19 February 1989. The lower floor had been in use for some time before that. Björgvin Tómasson built the organ of seventeen stops, consecrated on 21 March 1999. Ingunn Benediktsdóttir's glass is in the entrance, and Herdís Tómasdóttir's work From Darkness to Light came to the church in 1990 and hangs to the right of the pulpit. Three bells hang in a tower standing in front of the church.
