What this is

Classical Iceland lists classical concerts, opera, choral music and early music across the country, in English and in Icelandic. It is written for somebody with a week in Reykjavík and an evening free, and for anybody who lives here and wants the month in one place.

Each listing says what the music is sung in, whether surtitles are provided, where the venue is and what a ticket costs, as far as anyone has published those things.

What an empty field means

It means nobody has confirmed it. We would rather print that than a plausible guess. A start time invented to fill a gap sends somebody to a locked door, and a language we assumed is worse than none at all, because the reason to look it up here is that it can be trusted.

Descriptions are our own, written from the facts an organizer publishes. Both languages are written rather than translated, so neither reads as a version of the other.

Tickets

We do not sell tickets. Each event page links to whoever does and names them, so you know where you are going before you click.

Listing an event

Organizers are welcome to send us what they have. A date, a venue, a programme and the language it is sung in are enough to make a listing. Anything you cannot confirm we leave out rather than fill in.

There is no charge and no arrangement to make. The site is independent, and no venue, festival or ticket seller has any say in what appears on it.
