Christmas at the Symphony
Presented by Iceland Symphony Orchestra
The orchestra's Christmas concert is written for young listeners and the people who bring them. Nicholas Swensen conducts, Álfheiður Erla Guðmundsdóttir and Jóhann Kristinsson sing, and Kolbrún Völkudóttir sings in sign language. Halldóra Geirharðsdóttir hosts as Barbara the clown and gives her Christmas meditation. With them are two choirs, Stúlknakór Reykjavíkur and Kammerkórinn Aurora, the youth band Skólahljómsveit Kópavogs, two handbell choirs and dancers from the national ballet school, and Maxímús Músíkús puts on his red hat. The whole concert is interpreted in sign language. About an hour without an interval, played four times, twice on each of the two days.
