Edward Gardner conducts, and Alina Ibragimova plays Prokofiev's first violin concerto, a work that moves between lyrical melody and open conflict between the solo violin and the orchestra. Beethoven's ninth symphony follows, with soloists, Söngsveitin Fílharmónía and the Langholtskirkja Choir. Gardner is principal conductor of the London Philharmonic and music director of the Norwegian National Opera. About two hours with an interval.
