Kór Langholtskirkju
The choir of Langholtskirkja in Reykjavík, founded in 1953. Large choral works have been the centre of its singing from the beginning, Bach above all. In recent years it has sung more without accompaniment, including Schnittke's Concerto for Choir and Rachmaninov's All-Night Vigil, and it took part in the Florilège Vocal de Tours competition in 2019. It has given first performances of new Icelandic works, among them Guðbrandsmessa, which Hildigunnur Rúnarsdóttir wrote for the choir's fiftieth anniversary and which was released on a recording in 2008. Earlier recordings include Bach's St John Passion (1987), Barn er oss fætt (1991), An Anthology of Icelandic Choir Music (1993), Ísland er lýðveldi (1994) and Land míns föður (1997).
