Symphony

Daníel Bjarnason conducts Brahms

Presented by North Iceland Symphony Orchestra

A drawing of a long wooden alphorn lying on its side with its bell at one end, in gold line on pale paper.

Daníel Bjarnason conducts the North Iceland Symphony Orchestra in two works by Johannes Brahms: the Double Concerto for violin and cello in A minor, Op. 102, in which the two instruments share the solo part, and the First Symphony in C minor, Op. 68. The soloists are a married couple, the violinist Guðbjartur Hákonarson and the cellist Hrafnhildur Marta Guðmundsdóttir. Guðbjartur plays viola in the Iceland Symphony Orchestra and spent two years in the Royal Danish Opera Orchestra. Hrafnhildur Marta's father, Guðmundur Óli Gunnarsson, conducted this orchestra for 23 years.
