Trio JAM: Café Music

Presented by Trio JAM

The three members of Trio JAM standing one behind another against a plain wall.

The three players of Trio JAM met as students at the Stuttgart University of Music and Performing Arts and have played together since 2023, in Germany and France, mixing classical music with jazz, tango and pop, and talking, singing and improvising as they go. The concert takes its name from Paul Schoenfield's Café Music, a piece drawn from the life of street cafés. Astor Piazzolla's Las cuatro estaciones porteñas, his four seasons of Buenos Aires, bring tango to the concert hall, and the German composer Florian Willeitner's Piano Trio No. 2 joins chamber music to jazz; there is a piece by Peter Ludwig too, and songs about the seasons in the trio's own arrangements. María Qing Sigríðardóttir plays cello, Alice Compagnon violin, and sings, and Jonathan Hanke plays piano. The concert lasts about an hour and a half with an interval.
