The concert opens with Bach's Ricercar a 6 in Anton Webern's orchestration. Barbara Hannigan, the orchestra's chief conductor, conducts. Lucie Horsch is the soloist in two works for recorder: a Bach concerto in Frans Brüggen's arrangement, and Whistles and Whispers from Uluru by the Estonian composer Erkki-Sven Tüür, where birdsong from the Baltic meets Uluru, the sandstone mountain in Australia. The orchestra also plays two works of the neoclassical years, Stravinsky's Dumbarton Oaks and Prokofiev's first symphony, the Classical. About two hours with an interval.
