KIMI ensemble is a trio of voice, accordion and percussion, and most of what it plays is new music written for that unusual combination. Its programme Þagnarómur, On Silence, is about silence in language, culture and history. Two new works by Guðmundur Steinn Gunnarsson and Aya Yoshida are heard for the first time, both looking for silence in traditional Japanese poetry and in Icelandic. The Israeli composer Udi Perlman's piece is about the silencing of Palestinian voices, Kolbeinn Bjarnason's sets a poem by the Palestinian poet Refaat Alareer about hope for a better future, and a piece by the Danish composer Jeppe Ernst rests on the tension of silence itself. Þórgunnur Anna Örnólfsdóttir sings, Jónas Ásgeir Ásgeirsson plays accordion and Katerina Anagnostidou percussion. The concert runs about seventy minutes with an interval.
