The Reykjavík Chamber Orchestra opens its season with two chamber works Antonín Dvořák wrote in 1878: the String Sextet in A major, Op. 48, and the Serenade in D minor, Op. 44, for winds, cello and double bass. Around the same time he wrote the Slavonic Dances that made his name far beyond Bohemia. The orchestra was founded in 1974 to give regular concerts of chamber music from the Baroque to the twentieth century, and has given the first performance of many works written for it. Children aged twelve and under go free.
