Iceland Symphony Orchestra 2026–27 · Symphony
From the New World
Presented by Iceland Symphony Orchestra
The Deep – Requiem by Hjálmar H. Ragnarsson is heard for the first time at this concert. It was the last orchestral work he finished, and he died in March 2026. Isabelle Faust plays the violin concerto of the Australian composer Brett Dean, The Lost Art of Letter Writing, which takes its subject from letters. The concert closes with Dvořák's ninth symphony, From the New World. Faust was the orchestra's resident artist in 2010 and 2011. Olari Elts conducts. About two hours with an interval.
