Rafael Adobas Bayog

A flautist, born on Ibiza, who studied at the Escola Superior de Música de Catalunya in Barcelona and at the Musikhochschule in Munich, and finished his training as an academist with the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic. He has played with the Berlin Philharmonic, the NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchestra and the Tonhalle Orchestra in Zürich. He won first prize at the Kobe flute competition in 2022 and third prize at the Carl Nielsen competition in 2019, and in 2023 the Philippine commission for culture and the arts gave him its Ani ng Dangal award. He has been principal flute of the Iceland Symphony since 2025.
