Léttsveit Reykjavíkur

A women's choir of about a hundred singers, which began in the autumn of 1995 inside Kvennakór Reykjavíkur, the Reykjavík Women's Choir, when so many women wanted to join it that a second group was formed to sing the lighter repertoire. Its first concert was given in the Women's Choir's house on Ægisgata on 3 December 1995. Jóhanna V. Þórhallsdóttir conducted it from the start until 2012, and Gísli Magna has conducted it since. For a long time it was the largest women's choir in the country, at a hundred and twenty singers and more. It rehearses in the parish hall of Háteigskirkja, and usually gives two concerts in December and one or two in the spring.
