The amateur orchestra plays Rachmaninov

An orchestra of amateurs plays Rachmaninov's second piano concerto, and before it Beyond, a piece by Pranav Ranjit, whose music draws on landscape, on folk traditions and on the distance between fullness and silence. The soloist is Andrew J. Yang, who grew up in California, studied the piano at Northwestern and at the Mannes School of Music in New York, and moved to Patreksfjörður in the Westfjords five years ago. He founded Reykjavík Pianofest and the international piano festival of the Westfjords, and he now teaches in Reykjavík. Oliver Kentish conducts. A ticket is 3,500 krónur.
