Kammermúsíkklúbburinn at seventy: Beethoven and Schubert
Presented by Kammermúsíkklúbburinn

Kammermúsíkklúbburinn, the chamber music club, gave its first concert at Melaskóli on 7 February 1957, when more than a hundred people heard Beethoven's Archduke Trio and, after the interval, Schubert's Trout Quintet. Seventy years later to the day, the same programme is played again. In 1957 the trio was Björn Ólafsson, concertmaster of the Iceland Symphony, Einar Vigfússon and Árni Kristjánsson, with Jón Sen and Erwin Köppen joining for the quintet. This time Ari Þór Vilhjálmsson, the club's artistic director, plays violin, Þórunn Ósk Marínósdóttir viola, Sigurgeir Agnarsson cello and Xun Yang double bass, the last three each principal of their section of the Iceland Symphony Orchestra, with the Italian pianist Domenico Codispoti at the piano. The trio dates from 1811 and the quintet from 1819.
