Fella- og Hólakirkja

Fella- og Hólakirkja was drawn by Ingimundur Sveinsson and Gylfi Guðjónsson, built by Haraldur Sumarliðason and consecrated on Palm Sunday in 1988. The building is banked into the ground and a band of windows runs round the whole of it, so that in the dusk the upper part seems to float above the earth. The stained glass is by Leifur Breiðfjörð and carries signs and words from scripture; the altarpiece is stained glass as well and hangs at an angle above the altar, and a glass work of his with seven doves hangs in the middle of the church. The altar and the pulpit are basalt and the font is marble. The organ came from Marcussen & Søn in Denmark, has twenty-three stops and was consecrated on 31 May 1992, and its case is pine.
