Iceland Symphony Orchestra 2026–27 · Symphony
A Midsummer Night's Dream
Presented by Iceland Symphony Orchestra
Barbara Hannigan conducts the season's last subscription concert and sings in it. It opens with four movements of Mendelssohn's music for A Midsummer Night's Dream, the overture and the wedding march among them. Aaron Copland's Dance Symphony is heard in Iceland for the first time; he made it out of a ballet that was never staged. Then come a waltz from a Richard Rodgers musical and Billy Barnes's At the Fair in a new arrangement by Hannigan and Bill Elliott. The concert is repeated in Hof in Akureyri the next day, without the Copland. About two hours with an interval.
