Ásta Dóra Finnsdóttir plays Grieg

Ásta Dóra Finnsdóttir plays Grieg's piano concerto in A minor. She first appeared with the orchestra in 2021, at fourteen, and is now a graduate student at the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia. The concert opens with Carl Nielsen's Helios Overture, and after the interval Anna Þorvaldsdóttir's Shadows of Solace is heard for the first time in Iceland. The orchestra commissioned it together with the Boston Symphony, the Gewandhausorchester in Leipzig and the Helsinki Philharmonic. Tabita Berglund conducts, and takes over as principal conductor in Bergen in the autumn of 2026. About two hours with an interval.
