Lilja María Ásmundsdóttir wrote áttir for Heiða Árnadóttir: voice, electronics, and a set of sound sculptures placed around Fríkirkjan, which Heiða sets going at points during the piece. The score is not written in notes. It is graphic notation, built from photographs of a single plant taken in February, at the spring equinox and in high summer. The work was first performed at the equinox itself, when day and night are the same length. Balance and turning are its subject.
