A winter solstice concert in Fimmund

Presented by Harpa

A harpist plays a concert harp under coloured stage light, her eyes closed and a gilded ornament in her hair.

Monday 21 December is the shortest day of the year, and in Reykjavík the sun comes up at about 11:21. In Fimmund, on Harpa's fifth floor above the fjord, Katie Buckley plays the harp and Sigrún Harðardóttir the violin while it rises. There are chairs, mats and cushions, and anyone may lie on the floor and listen. The programme has not been published. Admission is free and there are no tickets to collect.
