Harpist

Katie Buckley

The principal harpist of the Iceland Symphony. She began the harp at eight in Atlanta with Susan Bennett Brady, went on in San Francisco with Ann Adams, formerly harpist of the city's symphony and opera, and took her bachelor's and master's degrees and a performer's certificate at the Eastman School of Music with Kathleen Bride. In 2007 she founded Duo Harpverk with the percussionist Frank Aarnink to commission and play new music for harp and percussion; the duo has made two records, The Greenhouse Sessions and Offshoots, and gave the first performance of Stewart Copeland's Poltroons in Paradise with the Iceland Symphony in 2015. She played the harp on Björk's Utopia, toured with her on the Utopia tour in 2018 and the Cornucopia tour in 2019, and has played on film soundtracks, Draumalandið and Bjarnfreðarson among them.
