The Golden Age of Swing

Presented by Reykjavík Big Band

The Reykjavík Big Band's annual New Year concert in Eldborg is given over to the swing era, 1930 to 1950, when big bands ruled and their leaders, singers and soloists were the pop stars of the day. The programme is new every year, drawn from the books of Glenn Miller, Benny Goodman, Duke Ellington, Count Basie and others, and only the original arrangements are played. This year's guest singers are Salka Sól Eyfeld and the Faroese singer Jógvan Hansen. Sigurður Flosason conducts and introduces the music.
