Camerarctica plays quintets by Mozart and Brahms

Presented by Camerarctica

Five of Camerarctica's players standing against a concrete wall with their string instruments and a clarinet.

Camerarctica plays quintets by Mozart and Brahms. Mozart's Allegro in B flat for clarinet and string quartet comes first, then his String Quintet in G minor, K. 516, from the spring of 1787, in which a second viola joins the quartet and darkens the middle of the sound. After the interval comes Brahms's Clarinet Quintet in B minor, Op. 115, written in the summer of 1891 after he had heard the clarinettist Richard Mühlfeld play. The ensemble gives candlelit Mozart concerts in churches around Reykjavík every year before Christmas. Ármann Helgason plays clarinet, Hildigunnur Halldórsdóttir and Bryndís Pálsdóttir violin, Svava Bernharðsdóttir and Guðrún Þórarinsdóttir viola and Sigurður Halldórsson cello. The concert lasts about an hour and a half with an interval.
