Rachmaninov's Vespers: Kyrja and Yrkja

Presented by Hallgrímskirkja

A drawing of seven candles standing in a row and burning, in dark blue line on pale paper.

The vocal ensembles Kyrja and Yrkja sing Rachmaninov's All-Night Vigil, the Vespers, twenty voices with no conductor. The concert falls on All Saints' Day and is dedicated to the victims of the war in Ukraine and in Palestine. Before it begins and after it ends, listeners are invited to light a candle in memory of someone. Both ensembles work under the artistic direction of Philip Barkhudarov and Sólveig Sigurðardóttir, and the concert is part of the church's autumn series, Haust í Hallgrímskirkju. Doors open half an hour before.
