Spectrum

A mixed choir of chamber-choir size, twenty-five to twenty-eight singers of all ages, founded by Ingveldur Ýr Jónsdóttir with her pupils. It sings contemporary music and arrangements of popular and folk songs, always from memory, and rehearses on Tuesday evenings. It reached the final of the Kórar Íslands competition and has competed abroad. It has worked with the Irish composer Michael McGlynn and with Paul Phoenix, formerly of the King's Singers, and sang on his record Travels with my microphone. It was one of six Icelandic choirs chosen for a singing festival in Reykjavík led by Eric Whitacre that ended with a concert in Eldborg, and in 2012 it performed John Rutter's Requiem with a chamber orchestra in Neskirkja, in Sauðárkrókur and in Akureyrarkirkja.
