Kristján Jóhannesson

A baritone, born in Reykjavík in 1992. He began studying singing at Söngskóli Sigurðar Demetz in 2008 with Sigrún Hjálmtýsdóttir, Kristján Jóhannsson and Keith Reed, and in 2014 moved to Vienna to continue his studies with Uta Schwabe. As a student he sang the Toreador in Carmen at the Icelandic Opera and took part in Bellini's I Puritani at Hof in Akureyri with Sinfóníuhljómsveit Norðurlands. In 2017 he began working at the Theater an der Wien and the Kammeroper in Vienna, where his productions included Wagner's Ring and Richard Strauss's Salome. Since 2021 he has been permanently engaged in St. Gallen in Switzerland, where he has sung in Verdi's Requiem, Elektra and The Magic Flute among other works.
