Háskólakórinn

The choir of the University of Iceland, founded in 1972 and conducted by Gunnsteinn Ólafsson. Its singing runs from Icelandic songs to the classical choral repertoire, and it auditions new members at the start of each term in the university's main building. The choir appears regularly with the Icelandic Youth Symphony Orchestra, in Beethoven's Mass in C and Poulenc's Gloria at Langholtskirkja among other works, and it sang Carl Orff's Carmina Burana with the Iceland Symphony to a full Eldborg. The choir has made a record of its own, Hrafnar. It has sung at the Reykjavík Arts Festival with the Polish and Ukrainian duo DAGADANA, and it has toured to Ireland, Hungary and Austria.
