Schumann & Beethoven

Bar Avni conducts, and the Canadian cellist Bryan Cheng plays Schumann's Cello Concerto. It was received unevenly at first and now stands among the best known cello concertos of the Romantic period. Charlotte Sohy's Symphony in C sharp minor is a woman's account of a war with little heroism in it and a great deal of fear and uncertainty. The concert opens with a short overture by Lili Boulanger on a spring morning in Paris and closes with Beethoven's third Leonore Overture. Avni won the La Maestra conducting competition in 2024. About two hours with an interval.
