Reykjavík Opera Days 2026 · Recital

Portrait: Kurt Weill

Presented by Reykjavík Opera Days

Kurt Weill wrote for the opera house, the cabaret and Broadway, and moved between them without much caring where the borders were. Sigríður Thorlacius and Hildigunnur Einarsdóttir sing him in four languages, German, English, French and Icelandic, with twelve players and new arrangements by Þórður Magnússon written for these two voices. Sigríður came up through popular music and Hildigunnur through classical, which is the point of the pairing. The programme was first heard at Við Djúpið in the summer of 2025.
