Karlakór Reykjavíkur, a male-voice choir founded in Reykjavík on 3 January 1926, is a hundred years old this year. For the later part of its anniversary programme it brings Orphei Drängar from Uppsala, a Swedish male choir that has not sung in Iceland since 2002. The visitors sing music by Hugo Alfvén, Peter Cornelius, Eleanor Daley, Ester Mägi, Knut Nystedt and Mikko Sidoroff, and by the Icelanders Hildur Guðnadóttir and Þorkell Sigurbjörnsson, with Brian Hughes's Tyger! Tyger! and Schubert's Der Gondelfahrer accompanied by Folke Alin at the piano. What the hosts sing has not been announced. At the end the two choirs combine, two hundred voices by the organizers' count, for folk songs from Iceland and Sweden. Cecilia Rydinger and Friðrik S. Kristinsson conduct.
