Sönghátíð í Hafnarborg
A festival of song in Hafnarfjörður every June: recitals, opera and choirs, first held in 2017.
Sönghátíð í Hafnarborg, the song festival at Hafnarborg, was first held in 2017. It is an independent festival run with Hafnarborg, on Strandgata in Hafnarfjörður, and it takes place in June.
Its subject is the singing voice in all its forms. The 2022 festival had a Mozart concert, a choral concert, a family concert, an opera gala, the first performance of an Icelandic work, Icelandic art song, and a concert by the students of a master class. For its tenth year, in 2026, Sally Matthews and Stuart Skelton were among the singers, and Puccini's Suor Angelica was performed.
Guðrún Jóhanna Ólafsdóttir and Francisco Javier Jáuregui founded it. It won the Icelandic Music Award for festival of the year in 2020.
