Reykjavík Opera Days

A festival of classical singers at the end of October, in Reykjavík and around it, in ordinary places and unusual ones, founded in 2016.

Óperudagar, which calls itself Reykjavík Opera Days in English, is a festival of classical singers and the people they work with. It is held every year at the end of October, in Reykjavík and around it, and was founded in 2016.

The name says less than the festival does. A classical singer sings a good deal besides opera, and the festival takes in the whole of classical song, opera among it. Its aim is good and varied events in ordinary and unusual places. In 2026 those included Norðurljós at Harpa, the Litla svið at Borgarleikhúsið, Fríkirkjan, the Free Church beside the pond, Norræna húsið, Salurinn in Kópavogur, Tjarnarbíó, a square in Garðabær, and the outdoor swimming pool on Álftanes.

Guja Sandholt is its artistic director.

The 2026 festival runs from 25 October to 1 November, and its performances are listed on this site. The festival's own site is operudagar.is.
