Reykjavík Early Music Festival
Baroque music on period instruments in Harpa in Holy Week, the days before Easter, at a festival first held in 2024.
The Reykjavík Early Music Festival is an international baroque festival, held in Harpa every year in Holy Week, the days before Easter. It began in March 2024, and it is devoted to period performance: music of earlier centuries played on the instruments of its time and in the manner of its time.
In 2026 the evening concerts were in Norðurljós, and around them were free lunchtime concerts in Hörpuhorn, family concerts in Eldborg and Kaldalón, and master classes.
The violinist Elfa Rún Kristinsdóttir is its artistic director, and it is run by Snemmtónlistarfélagið, a society for early music that works on a non-profit basis.
