Steinar Logi Helgason

Choirmaster of Hallgrímskirkja since the autumn of 2021. He studied the piano at Tónmenntaskóli Reykjavíkur, Nýi tónlistarskólinn and Tónlistarskólinn í Reykjavík, took the church organist examination at Tónskóli þjóðkirkjunnar and then a bachelor's degree in church music at the Iceland University of the Arts, taught there by Björn Steinar Sólbergsson. He took a master's in conducting at the Royal Danish Academy of Music in Copenhagen at the end of 2020. He has conducted many choirs and worked as an organist and pianist, and he was nominated for an Icelandic Music Award in 2021 with Cantoque Ensemble, as ensemble of the year in the classical and contemporary category.
