Dómkórinn

The choir of Dómkirkjan, the Cathedral of Reykjavík, which sings at the services there. Music in the cathedral has a long history: the first organ in any Icelandic church arrived there in 1840, the year Pétur Guðjohnsen, the first Icelander trained as an organist, took up his post. The choir has issued records and sung at home and abroad, and all of Iceland's leading composers, along with several from elsewhere, have written for it. It has taken on Brahms's German Requiem, Bach's Christmas Oratorio and St John Passion, and Mozart's Requiem. Its members make up Kammerkór Dómkirkjunnar, the cathedral's chamber choir, which sings mostly at funerals in the church and at official occasions. Matthías Harðarson, the cathedral organist, conducts it.
