An Icelandic bass who trained at Söngskólinn í Reykjavík and in Vienna, where he sang three seasons at the Volksoper from 1997. He has since worked at the Staatsoper Berlin, the Opéra Bastille, Lyric Opera of Chicago and the New National Theatre in Tokyo. Baron Ochs in Der Rosenkavalier and Osmin in Die Entführung aus dem Serail are his two central roles, and he has sung nearly every bass part Wagner wrote, from Daland to Hagen.
