ISO Youth Orchestra plays Scheherazade

The Iceland Symphony Youth Orchestra chooses one large work a year and has picked Rimsky-Korsakov's Scheherazade. It is built on the Thousand and One Nights, in which Scheherazade stays alive by telling the Sultan a story night after night. Rimsky-Korsakov knew how to write for an orchestra as few others did, and he uses its whole range of colour here. Nathanaël Iselin conducts. About an hour, without an interval.
